Forest milestone: She said "thank you" today. Although it sounded more like, "tenchu" I was so happy to hear her say the words :) She would have to improve her comprehension though since she said it while pretending to give me something. Repeated it for like 6x hehehe Maybe she's expecting me to say it and was just mimmicking. She must have learned it by watching us. Brilliant girl you are turning to be, Baby Forest. You bring us so much joy... Thank you :)

Rollers
Quality time with kids redefined in the 21st century: Surfing youtube for their favorite songs and discussing how dreadlocks are made nyahahaha! Rod lecturing me: "Buy ka nyan ng rollers, Nay. Tapos i-ganun-ganun mo sa hair(gesturing), tapos ipahaba mo..." :)

It hurts!
While waiting at the hospital, the kids joked around.
Ate Tunga to Bolet: What do you call those in white?
Rod: They're doctors!
Me: Very good! What do you call us then?
Rod: We're family!
We all laughed and I corrected, "No, I meant if we're sick like Forest is and we go to a doctor what are we?"
To help him along I said, "It's called, p-a-y..."
Rod: Painful!
Hahaha!

For Now
Is teary-eyed. Prayed together over the phone with my 5 year old son. As usual, I'm on a work-related travel again. Hearing his voice made me realize he's really all grown already. Pretty soon, he'd be having a world of his own that may very well exclude me. But for now, I'm relishing his "I love you's" and the fact that I'm his hero and the center of his life for the moment.

"Understanding"
I was busy cleaning the house and Bolet probably wanting to help was pestering his Tatay to hand him the rug that was hung way over his head. His Tatay was busy with the washing machine (It was that kind of day) and did not quite hear him. Over and over Bolet said, "Tatay, the rug please. Ayun o," pointing at it. Still, his Tatay was too busy to hear him.
Frustrated, Bolet stomped his feet, turned his back on his Tatay and said, "Di ka man 'understanding' Tatay oi! Sabi ko yung rug!"
****
A few days before that, I arrived fresh from travel. On our way home, wanting to make up for lost time, I engaged Bolet in a little tête-à-tête. I asked him how his week was, what kept him busy and how they were while I was away. He had a myriad of things to tell me.
Then, at one point he shared, "Nanay, nag-away kami ni Ate and si Tatay, pinapunta agad ako sa room, pinatulog agad kami."
I explained, "Tatay did that because he doesn't want to really get angry at both of you. Baka kasi mapalo nya pa kayo."
Bolet retorted, "Kaya nga Nay, nung wala ka, I-'understand' ko agad si Tatay para di siya magalit agad."

Hmm... I wonder what is Bolet's understanding of the word, "understand" hehehe

On Weight Management
"Was cam-playing (the word, "whoring" doesn't quite sit well with me hehe) with the kids inside the car while Tatay was off to do some "marketing." Looking at the camera's LCD and noticing how...err... "healthy" (hehe)... I looked in them I muttered in dismay, "Ay! I look fat in these photos." I then fidgeted with my hair trying to fix it in such away that would make my face a lot smaller, while at the same time muttering to myself, "Hmm... pano pumayat ha...?" Without missing a beat, Bolet immediately exclaimed, "Mag-exercise ka, Nay!"
O nga naman :p

On the Weather
It's been raining most days and while I was putting him to bed Kuya suddenly asked, "Nanay, bakit malamig ang panahon ngayon?" I was greatly amused as I didn't know "panahon" and its nuances already forms part of his vocabulary and awareness. I figured, he probably overheard it from some adults around him.
Then, yesterday, on our way to school and traveling in the car with the air conditioning off, he quipped, "Haaay! Mainit ang panahon dito sa car nating ngayon!"
Hahaha!
