Spend Time with Friends

Rod came barging in from playing outside and singled out his Tatay:  "Tatay, ayaw mong magpunta kina Jireh (kapitbahay)?"  Tatay: Para? Rod: To spend time with your friends! Haha! Tatay spent Saturday night with the neighbors much to the dislike of Rod and Forest who can't sleep without him.  I had to explain to them that Tatay needs to spend some time for himself and to be with his friends.  Amazing how the thought got stuck with Rod hehehe

That's now how the world works

Rod: "Di man talaga ganyan ang mundo, Nay! Na pag red, di na pwede blue tapos pag blue ni na pwede red!" When I remarked that his VERY bright blue rubber shoes do not quite match with his bright red polo shirt

Cheap Car!

On our way home, we passed by several second-hand car display shops. From the backseat Rod remarked, "Nanay, meron doon yung gusto mong car. For sale. Mura lang siya." (Nanay, I saw back there similar to the car you really liked. It's on sale. Very cheap.)

I replied, "Really?"

He answered, "Yup, how much is four times four (4x4 - forward) again, Nanay?"

Confused as to what brought on the question, I answered anyway, "It's 16, Rod."

Rod exclaimed excitedly, "See! Mura nga! 16 lang siya!" (See! It's cheap indeed! It's only 16 [pesos]!)

SALEsman

On our way to school this morning, I sat Rod in my lap and shared, "Today, we are remembering Lolo's birthday."

Rod: Ah. Ano work niya Nanay nung bata ka pa?

Me: Oh, he was a salesman

Rod: Oh, yung mga sale? Lahat ng binebenta niya, mura lang, 'Nay?

:P

Kung Fu!

Rod: AL-GER-YA.

Looking up, I found out he was reading the country names of the soccer ball he has that have flags on it. Pleased to see him interested, I seized the moment and said, “Hey, Rod, you really should start learning about flags of countries already. It’s fun.”

I added, “How about try looking for BRAZIL?” He managed to find it.

I asked him to look for three other countries. Having difficulty on the last two, I got the ball from him, pointed at the flag of South Korea and then asked, “How about this one, what country is this? Do you know?”

His quick reply: “Yup! That’s Kung Fu!” :P
