We were prepared for the worse because he briefed us beforehand that he got a "few" line of 7 grades. That was quite a blow but noting his worried countenance we consoled, "We're not happy, that's for sure but we'll treat it as we usually do - like a team. We just have to work extra hard. I'll be more strict, no more dilly-dallying pag mag-study na."
He shared, "Worried gud talaga, Nay when I knew. Until now. Buti konti lang galit ni Tatay." Only to find out the only line of 7 he got was 97 for CLE We don't know where he got the impression Imagine our relief! He had to work harder for English and Math though. Only 85. He did promise he'd work double time this time. Sana nga. My realization, it pays not to push that hard so that the motivation to work harder is for the right reasons... #cardday

Dagdagan Mo Pa
Conversation ng mag-ama over lunch: Tatay (joking), "30 na lang ang allowance mo next week, Rod. Kasi naghingi ka ng 20 kanina, binili mo ng iced tea." Rod, after a while said, "Dagdagan mo pa yung 30 Tay, kasi nag-inom ka man." :P

Reward
Rod: "Nanay I got 6 mistakes in English." Then very quickly, "But I got perfect (score) in Araling Panlipunan. You give me 100 as a prize."
Me: What!? Wasn't the agreement some school supplies that costs 1OO or below?
Rod: Okay, okay. Pero dapat akin lang Nay ha? Kasi reward ko. Dati I had to split the markers with Ate and Forest.
Me: "Okay." Teasing, I added, "But shouldn't we rethink this? Madali lang man ang Aral Pan so dapat 50 peso worth equivalent lang. Tapos pag Math and Science and English, 100 peso worth na."
Rod: Waaaaah! :)

What's Not Special for You, Nanay?
Spent an afternoon of gardening with the kiddos. When I urged them to plant one kind of vegetable each, Rod came up to me and said, "Ano yung ayaw mo na plant, Nay?" Not quite getting what he's driving at, I asked him what he meant. He rephrased pointing at the different seeds at our feet, "Ano yung di special sa yo?"
I wondered if he's into the "rebelling" stage already, wanting to do something I would hate. Probably noting my confusion he explained, "Baka kasi mamatay, 'Nay. Buti na yung di special sa 'yo." And my heart melted right through. I chided myself for ever doubting my son. 'Love you, Rod. Thank you for being so thoughtful and mindful of Nanay's feelings :)
He ended up planting pechay, not actually a "non-favorite" but ranked less in priority this week, compared to arugula, lettuce and cherry tomatoes :) Forest planted the latter and she looked adorable dropping seeds in pre-readied recycled cans and watering them after. It was my niece-daughter, Janin who stuck with me till the end, planting arugula and basil :)
Thank you, God for a glorious Sunday afternoon

Correction, Please
Forest is becoming more and more articulate everyday. This morning while her Tatay was serving me coffee he said, "Kopi mo, 'Nay" and she was quick to correct, "CoFFEE, Tay!" with emphasis on the "F." Imagine that, at barely 3 years old hehehe Her Tatay could only laugh. She also likes to emphasize her "V" every time she alludes to her favorite food chain, "LoVE ko 'to" hehehe Kids! They're such a piece of heaven here on earth. Thank you, God for such wonderful blessings!

Reward
Now he's making me buy him a Tsi Tsu (Shi Tzu) because he made it to the honor roll. I told him it's a big responsibility, taking care of another being and on top of that it is expensive to keep one. His reply, "Magdag-dag man ako 'Nay sa pambili." (I have some money I could add to yours) I asked, "How much is that?" He replied serenely, "Seventy-six!" Huh! That means I have to raise a few thousands more! Help!
